As Broadway’s finest gathered at Radio City Music Hall for the 79th Annual Tony Awards earlier this week, John Gore made history by becoming the most decorated Tony Award winner that Broadway has ever seen, with 27 awards now to his name.
The John Gore Organization was a named co-producer on two of the evening’s defining winners: Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman, which won Best Revival of a Play and Schmigadoon! which took home Best Musical, in a landmark evening that saw the production claim six Tonys in total.
The Best Revival of a Play award is especially fitting as the John Gore Foundation / Broadway.com is a founding sponsor and lead donor of the Arthur Miller Foundation’s Programs aimed to broaden access to arts education within NYC public schools.
The Tony Awards was a remarkable night for theatre storytelling. For John Gore Studios, it is also a reminder of what sits at the heart of everything we do.
John’s track record on Broadway, which now spans more than two decades, dozens of productions, and a trophy cabinet like no other, is not incidental to his work in film and television; it is the foundation of it. The same creative instinct and commercial rigour that has shaped some of the most celebrated productions in Broadway history steers every decision made here at John Gore Studios, from the films we choose to develop and finance, to the heritage IP we steward, the talent we back and the stories we champion.
John has always believed in great storytelling – whether the curtain rises on a Broadway stage or opens on a cinema screen. That conviction is built into the DNA of this studio.
From our slate of upcoming feature films to our stewardship of iconic British brands including Hammer Films, our recent acquisition of Angels Costumes and our restoration programme at Silver Salt, John Gore Studios is committed to building a legacy that is both artistically ambitious and commercially enduring.
This week’s recognition belongs to Broadway. But the vision behind it belongs to all of us at John Gore Studios and the John Gore Organization. Congratulations to John, the entire John Gore Organization team, and all of the creative companies involved in Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman and Schmigadoon! on an extraordinary night for Broadway.
